Tupac, Beshear Shirts A Global Hit

Garage Pig Print Works

A family owned printing business in Louisville is springing back to life, thanks to a snafu by Governor Andy Beshear. Two weeks ago during his daily Coronavirus press briefing Governor Andy Beshear was upset thinking that pranksters were entering false names to try to collect unemployment…one applicant was Tupac Shakur. The next night, “I didn’t know and it’s my fault that we have a Kentuckian who goes by Malik whose name is Tupac Shakur.”

The incident made national news and the talk-show circuit. It gave Dakota Elzy an idea. “I thought it’d be really funny to have Andy and Tupac shaking hands in replace of the two men on the state flag. I told my dad the next morning and about 15 minutes after I found some different pictures and send him some ideas he had the very first shirt printed up.”

The Elzy family owns and operates Garage Pig Print Works…and yes its run out of a very large garage and yes they have a pig. Two in fact. The business, like so many others, had come to a near stand-still amid the Coronavirus because the majority of their orders were for sports teams and school events, all cancelled. “You know people don’t need t-shirts when you know they’re not in regular operations” Elzy said. But the family sent a shirt to the Governor, who proudly held it up and again owned the mistake. Orders started flying in from as far away as Germany. “It’s completely blown up. The past couple of days we’ve been out here non-stop printing shirts, filing through orders and our web site back up and it’s been crazy.”
