Round Three Of Snow, Ice And Sleet Storms Across The Commonwealth

Snow and ice may be to blame for the collapse of a deck of a parking garage on Vine Street in downtown Lexington. Several streets in the area including Mill and High are closed. No one was injured. Road crews continue to work around the clock across the Commonwealth amid the third round of snow, ice and sleet in just seven days. You are still being asked not to drive unless it is necessary.

Here in Fayette County, Director of Streets and Roads Rob Allen said they have cleared and treated most of the priority one roads but there are still areas of black ice. They have begun working on secondary roads and will be moving into subdivisions that haven’t been cleared beginning later today. Allen reminds you that if you have to travel, it is still slick and dangerous.

The UK COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Kroger Field is operating on schedule today as are the state’s regional vaccination sites. If you had an appointment scheduled for last Thursday that was canceled due to weather, it is automatically rescheduled for today at the same time and location.

The University of Kentucky and UK HealthCare hospitals and clinics are open and operating on a regular schedule today. All offices are open, and in-person and online classes will take place at their scheduled times.

More than 90-thousand Kentuckians were still without power as of 8:00 this morning.
