Christie scheduled to visit Kentucky on Saturday

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Kentucky Republicans will hear from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Saturday at the state GOP's annual Lincoln Day Dinner.

Christie had been touted as a potential presidential candidate in this year's Republican primary, but he opted not to enter the race. He still is being talked about as a potential vice presidential running mate.

His visit has captured the attention of Democrats, including U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth of Louisville, who has planned a press conference for Friday to discuss Christie's visit. A statement distributed by Democrats accused Christie of  "pandering to the extreme right wing base.''

The Republican dinner will dinner will be held at the Marriott Griffin Gate hotel in Lexington at 6 p.m. EDT.
