John Sadak is about to start his third season as the lead play-by-play broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds Television Network. The story of how he became interested in sports broadcasting is a little different from most – he considered math, and in particular astrophysics as a career possibility, but he was all in once he made up his mind. When hired by the Reds, he said, "I'm in this position, hopefully, for the rest of my working life.”
His experience is extensive, including nearly 15 seasons of minor league baseball. He has worked with CBS Television sports and Westwood One Radio. His work includes play-by-play in the NFL, NBA, Major League Baseball, college football, basketball and baseball, as well as college softball, soccer, lacrosse, ice hockey, volleyball, water polo and field hockey. He was the voice of Princeton Tigers men’s basketball, Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens women’s basketball and the Advanced-A Wilmington Blue Rocks of minor leauge baseball before taking the lead announcing role with the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders, the top farm club of the New York Yankees, in 2013. HIs long list of honors includes recognition from Baseball America, Ballpark Digest, state Press Associations in Delaware and New Jersey, and the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
