Project Ricochet’s PR Health: Farm Rx program has partnered with Black Roots Farm (BRF) to enhance access to fresh, organic foods for underserved communities in Central Kentucky. BRF has long been a beacon of food security, sustainability, and agricultural education. Through this collaboration, PR Health: Farm Rx supports BRF’s efforts to combat food deserts by connecting families with nutrient-rich produce focused on blood pressure reduction. Together, we are fostering health equity, promoting Black agricultural heritage, and ensuring that fresh, local food remains accessible to those who need it most.
Tatum Lewis owns and operates Black Roots Farm (BRF), a 20-acre farm located in an urban neighborhood in downtown Winchester, KY (Clark County). Since 2018, BRF has focused on soil sustainability and land conservation while providing healthy, organic vegetables and fruits. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the farm supplied free organic food to elders and families with small children, helping sustain the local food system in a community affected by food deserts.
