The Netflix film, I Care A Lot, is a disturbingly dark comedy based on real-life events, showing the exploitation and abuse of seniors. Marla, the main character in the film, is a professional guardian. Her job is to oversee and make all the legal and financial decisions for seniors who are deemed unable to make decisions for themselves. Marla works with a corrupt doctor who targets seniors, then gets an inept judge to appoint her guardian. She moves her victims into a nursing home and sells their assets for her own personal gain. Sadly, in the end, the lure of money wins out over care and compassion.
