The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming election is just hours away.

Anyone not registered to vote by Monday afternoon will not be able to cast a ballot in the November election.

Fayette County Clerk Susan Lamb had this message for young voters and those with any questions about the process.

"If you are not registered to vote and you're either 17 years of age or older, and if you're going to be 18 years of age before November 5, go to govote.ky.gov," she said. "Go register to vote, and if you have further questions, you go to fayettecountyclerk.com. And at your fingertips you will be able to get your answers. And if you can't then you call our office at 859-253-3344."

Eligible residents can register in person at the clerk’s office by close of business today, which is 4 PM. Those opting to register online must do so by the same time. And anyone choosing to mail their registration should have it postmarked no later than October 7.
