CivicLex Chat: Takeaways from council briefings on community corrections, community paramedicine, and substance use disorder programs

Richard Young of CivicLex and WUKY's Alan Lytle discuss major issues up for discussion at City Hall including a review of the city's community corrections, paramedicine and substance use disorder programs.

The Social Services & Public Safety (SSPS) Committee heard a presentation from Division of Community Corrections Director Scott Colvin reporting the findings of a recent operations review. You can read about the review here.

SSPS also heard a presentation on the Community Paramedicine Program from Captain Seth Lockard and Chief Jason Wells of the Lexington Fire Department. You can read about the presentation here.

SSPS heard a third presentation on the Substance Use Disorder Intervention efforts from Amy Baker from the Department of Social Services and Susan Speckert from the Department of Law. You can read about the presentation here. Presenters and Council spent some time talking about the National Opioid
Settlement resources that Lexington will be receiving and the next steps for allocating that funding.
