McConnell visits Emergency Ops Center in Frankfort, praises all involved in Tornado recovery

Karyn Czar

U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell visited the Kentucky Emergency Management Center to get an assessment of the progress being made in Western Kentucky, where deadly tornadoes tore through the region on December 10th. WUKY’s Karyn Czar reports.

That was McConnell after he was briefed by officials at KEMC Tuesday morning. He says he is staying in close touch with agencies to ensure the state can tap all federal resources available to help with the arduous and expensive task of rebuilding. He says one key to recovery is making sure help is there for the long haul.

The Army Corp of Engineers predicts that it will take a few more months to clear all the debris from the hardest hit areas like Mayfield and Dawson Springs. And the Governor says mobile trailers are being delivered to the area and will be in place by the end of the week to house some families that are still displaced from the storms.
