CivicLex to hold series of council candidate forums

CivicLex

CivicLex and the Lexington chapter of the League of Women Voters kick off the first of four district council candidate forums as part of the lead-up to the November election. Tonight, voters can come to Lafayette High School and hear from candidates in districts 2 and 10.

Megan Gulla with CivicLex says you’re invited to stop by Lafayette High School tonight to hear from and interact with candidates representing council districts 2 and 10.

"And it's more of a conversational opportunity, especially between residents or attendees, and the candidates themselves, rather than them just speaking on a platform like at you, you'll be able to ask them questions and talk directly with them, so we like that format a lot," said CivicLex's Megan Gulla. "We've heard a lot of positive feedback. So we're excited to bring it to the District Council races. We've done it before with at large Council candidates. But this is the first time we've had to deal with district councils, so a little bit more planning and logistics, just more districts to kind of fit into the format," Gulla told WUKY.

Tonight’s event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Three more forums will take place over the coming weeks with the next one slated for September 11th, featuring council districts 4, 8 and 9.
