Every two years, the city invites residents to view maps of the proposed local transportation-related projects that are in the pipeline. Chris Evilia, director of the Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, says it's known as the Transportation Improvement Plan.
"In theory, these are supposed to be the highest priorities for the region for the next four years," he explains. "So what we want to get feedback on is do you agree, are these the projects that really need to be moving forward. If you don't see something here that you think needs to be a part of that, then we'd like to know that."
Evilia says it's also a chance for people to raise concerns about projects, potentially leading the city to put them on hold.
"There is quite a bit proposed," he says. "There is probably one phase or another for about two-dozen different projects."
Evilia was speaking at an open house at the Marksbury branch of the public library on Wednesday. But he says there's still plenty of time to view the plans and get your two cents in. Comments are accepted through Friday, August 2.
