Lexington FEMA recovery center to shut down Monday

Associated Press

Lexington’s FEMA Disaster Recovery Center is permanently closing its doors Monday.

Monday, July 22, is the final day Fayette County residents can visit the FEMA recover center for in-person help in applying for disaster assistance through the federal agency. The center will close up shop at 6 p.m.

It’s not the last chance for those affected by the severe storms on April 2 to obtain help. They can still visit another DRC location in Kentucky for aid in applying for disaster assistance.

The FEMA helpline is also available from 7 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week, at 1-800-621-3362.

The Lexington recovery center opened on June 6 to provide disaster assistance to Fayette County renters and homeowners who were impacted by the storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and other severe weather events in early April.
