Like lots of major purchases, going solar isn't as simple as just clicking a "buy" button online, and newcomers often find themselves a bit bewildered researching the different options. Cue Solarize Lexington.
"This is what we call solar 101. So it's the basics..." the presentation begins.
It's a program meant to take care of the hassle, connecting participants with a vetted solar installer. Jeffrey Nazarko is with solar energy solutions.
"We talk homeowners through the the system itself. We do an evaluation of its efficacy for them, how much offset they're going to see, what kind of residual savings they'll see over time, the payback on the system, and then also provide them with information about you know the CO2 offset that they'll be maintaining as a result of this switch to a green energy," he explains.
Just in the time Solarize has been up and running, scammers have also seized on the solar market, adding yet another risk for homeowners going it alone.
One other incentive: By going the group buying route, the program is able to offer around 15% off wholesale rates.
