Eric Lindsey, KBC’s Director of Media and Branding, said he’s hopeful the event will draw a strong turnout, thanks to Swiftie enthusiasm.
“We’ve seen folks that go to her concerts, that don’t even have tickets, just to be outside the stadium to hear her,” said Lindsey. “If her fans are willing to go to the degrees they have to see her in the past, maybe they’ll spend 45 minutes with us, donating blood and saving lives.”
The KBC provides 400 pints of blood per day to area hospitals, and is in constant need of blood donors willing to keep the supply steady. Lindsay said giveaways like these help keep donors coming through the summer months, when donations typically decrease.
“In the past, we’ve given away a car, we’ve given away vacation packages,” said Lindsey. “We think this is one that’s really going to resonate with a younger demographic that we’ve really, quite frankly, struggled to get blood donations from.”
All donors will receive a Swift-inspired t-shirt, and those who donate on Mondays and Tuesdays will receive a Taylor Swift friendship bracelet.
Donor centers are open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays from 8 am to 2 pm. Donors can call 800-775-2522 to schedule an appointment.
