Keeneland Library to hold Derby 150 handicapping seminar with award-winning turf writer Tom Law

keeneland.com

"There's nothing better than walking out of the track with the money that you won."

Veteran handicapper and award-winning turf writer Tom Law is a winner of the Red Smith Kentucky Derby Writing Award and multiple Eclipse Awards for his racing coverage. You can join him Wednesday evening at the Keeneland Library to discuss all the leading contenders for this year's historic run for the Roses and handicap the big race.

"My homework consists of following all those prep races again. I'll probably watch them and rewatch them multiple times. Actually I'm going to spend some time over in Louisville leading up to our event on Wednesday so I'll be out at the track even that morning."

Tom has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things racing and Derby. He's passionate about it and engaging, and it's probably a sure bet that it will be a fun evening regardless of your betting prowess.

"I would think in an event like this you're going to have people that are very interested in horse racing and interested in the Derby, but you know, I think a lot of people would want to come out if they wanted to gain some knowledge."

This is a ticketed event and you can purchase tickets online at keeneland.com and check out their other Derby specific tours via visit horsecountry.com.

"There's gambling and there's handicapping, and they're they're, if you can combine the two together, that's when you can win money."

The price of admission includes a mint julep, naturally and an hour or so to pick Law's brain and deliberate on making that big bet before Saturday.

"Well, I always say it's so unpredictable. They let us bet on it, right. I mean."

Law paid a visit to our studios for an in depth interview with WUKY's Alan Lytle:
