DanceBlue gets the party started this weekend at a new location

DanceBlue

DanceBlue – the University of Kentucky’s celebrated charitable dance marathon – is set to hit the floor at Rupp Arena.

It’s one of the biggest and most unique collegiate fundraising events in the country — and it continues to change lives through dance. Every year, the tradition culminates in a 24-hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon and has raised millions in the fight against pediatric cancer.

The money goes to the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic.

This year, due to ongoing construction at its usual home in Memorial Coliseum, DanceBlue will take place at Rupp Arena – a change that organizers hope will fuel even more excitement as the dancers take over the legendary venue.

DanceBlue starts tomorrow, April 6, and keeps the action going into April 7.

Anyone interested in donating to the cause can do so at danceblue.org.

Josh James fell in love with college radio at Western Kentucky University's student station, New Rock 92 (now Revolution 91.7). After working as a DJ and program director, he knew he wanted to come home to Lexington and try his hand in public radio.
