Right now, Lexington restaurants and retail businesses have a 12-hour window during which they can sell alcohol on Sundays: 11 am to 11 pm. But business owners are pushing to do away with those Sunday-only restrictions.
Jillian Riseman with CivicLex says this week the city’s Social Services and Public Safety Committee will entertain a proposal by Councilmember David Sevigny that would do just that.
"They will hear a presentation on a new ordinance that will extend alcohol sales hours Sunday to be consistent with alcohol sales for the rest of the week," Riseman explains.
Currently, during the rest of the week, alcohol sales are only restricted from 2:30 am to 6 am.
The committee will entertain the new proposal on Tuesday at 1.
