While the estimated time of recovery is still listed as "assessing conditions" on KU's outage map for Fayette County, the total number of outages was down to 16,730 by mid-afternoon — with many concentrated in the Landsdowne, Zandale, Carriage Lane, and Belleau Woods neighborhoods.
In response to a customer complaint about the outages and lack of updates on social media, LGE&E and KU responded on their Facebook page that the company expects to have all power restored by Wednesday "at the latest."
"While we strive to maintain reliable service at all times, there are circumstances that cause power outages that are beyond our control. High winds and falling trees and limbs take down power lines and cause damage to our equipment. We do understand your frustration because a lot of us are without power in our homes as well. Customer service and line crews are working around the clock to get everyone restored as quickly as possible. With this many outages, it just isn't possible to give estimates at this time," the post said.
Some neighborhoods do now have estimated restoration times listed.
The Zandale/Landsdowne area is listed at 11 pm Monday night.
Areas including Carriage Lane and Castlegate, as well as Belleau Woods, are currently listed at Tuesday, 11:30 pm.
The caveat below reads: "The above estimated time of restoration applies to all customers without power in this area. We are working to provide a restoration time for your specific outage. Please check back for updates."
