According to documents filed in Jefferson Circuit Court Thursday, Glenna Bevin describes her 27-year marriage to the former governor as “irretrievably broken.” The Courier Journal reports the petition also notes the couple has been separated for over a year.
Bevin is seeking divorce, joint custody, child support, and attorney’s fees from the one-time top Kentucky Republican.
The Bevins have nine children, but only two are minors, where custody would come into play.
Matt Bevin served one term as Kentucky governor before losing a close election to current Gov. Andy Beshear. His last major public appearance was a press conference at the Capitol, generating speculation that he might seek another term. Instead Bevin spoke for about 20 minutes about a host of issues facing the state before exiting the Capitol without filing to run.
