A new Morning Consult poll holds some good news for Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, who won the highest approval rating among his Democratic peers across the country.

The stat may sound surprising in a deeply red state, which narrowly elected Beshear in 2019. But, according to the survey conducted in the early months of 2022, 59% of respondents in Kentucky approved of the governor's job performance. Just 36% disapproved.

While that placed Beshear at the top among Democratic governors in the country, the poll showed all but eight incumbent governors are backed by 50% or more of their state's voters.

Not a single Democrat ranked among the 10 most popular governors, but Beshear came close at number 12.

The Morning Consult survey sampled at least 601 registered voters in every state from the start of the year through the end of March.
