'Father of Environmental Justice' and local high school students headline CCTS conference

Theman known internationally as the “father of environmental justice” will be at the University of Kentucky Tuesday for a Climate and Health Conference open to the community. WUKY’s Arlo Barnette has more.

Dr. Robert Bullard is the author of 18 books that address sustainable development, including “Dumping in Dixie: Race, Class, and Environmental Quality.” He’s the keynote speaker at Tuesday’s 17th annual UK Center for Clinical and Translational Science Conference on Climate and Health,8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Gatton Student Center.

Withapproximately 800 participants and 200 poster presentations, other highlights will include students from Fredrick Douglass High School’s Biomedical Pathways Program presenting cancer research, and a climate and health panel focused on Kentucky featuring the director of the state Geological Survey and experts from UK and UofL. The event is free and walk-in registration is permitted.
