Measure calling for end to State of Emergency passes Senate Committee

Wikipedia Commons

A resolution to end the COVID-19 State of Emergency in Kentucky has moved forward in Frankfort. WUKY’s Karyn Czar reports.

Senate Joint Resolution 150 would in effect end the COVID-19 emergency declaration that began on March 6th 2020, two years and one day after it was issued. Senator Donald Douglas who is one of the sponsors of the resolution said March 7th was chosen to give the Executive Branch time to respond while legislators were still in session.

Governor Andy Beshear said earlier this week that the state would continue to offer COVID guidance even if lawmakers end the State of Emergency.

The resolution passed out of committee nine to one with Democratic Senator Denise Harper Angel casting the only dissenting vote.
