With Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the rearview, today is Giving Tuesday. As WUKY’s Arlo Barnette reports, it kicks off a week-long online donation challenge in the Commonwealth.
The Blue Grass Community Foundation and Smiley Pete Publishing have hosted the GoodGiving Challenge since 2011. This year, the fundraiser goes toward a record 179 non-profit charitable organizations in Kentucky.
Mayor Linda Gorton was on hand at Tuesday’s kick-off event. She issued a proclamation declaring November 30th to December 6th “Good Giving Challenge Week” in Lexington.
BGCF Director of Strategic Initiatives and Communications Lauren Parsons says sponsors are offering over $650,000 in matching incentives for donors.
