Kentucky Relaxing Restrictions To Speed Fuel Deliveries Amid Shutdown

Kentucky is easing restrictions on drivers delivering fuel supplies to states affected by the Colonial Pipeline shutdown.

The temporary order, signed by state Transportation Secretary Jim Gray, relieves commercial drivers from maximum driving times and weigh station stops if they are delivering supplies to states experiencing interruptions.

Carriers cannot bypass any safety regulations, however, and must have a copy of the order in the truck cab if they are operating under the looser restrictions.

The order stays in effect through June 10th but could be extended if necessary.

The Colonial Pipeline is a vital fuel artery that supplies gasoline up the East Coast. It was shut down Friday as the result of a cyberattack.
