Kentuckians Asked To Ring In 2021 From Home

Governor Andy Beshear is again asking you to avoid parties or gatherings of any kind as you ring in the New Year. Kentucky has stopped the exponential growth we saw at the start of the month and it’s still not known if the Christmas holiday will impact case numbers in the weeks to come.

The Governor did leave the Governor’s mansion on Christmas Eve so that his son could be baptized in a private ceremony and said the number of cars on the roadways and in parking lots gave him “real concern” and urged Kentuckians to “do the right thing for your own health and the health of others.”

Beshear, local, state, and national health officials all agree that the safest way to celebrate Thursday is by staying home and supporting local bars and restaurants by order take-out. IF businesses do host events, Beshear said they must follow the regulations which include wearing masks, social distancing, and complying with capacity limitations.
