There will be a celebration to honor UK assistant football coach John Schlarman Monday at Kroger Field. Due to COVID-19, the event will not be open to the general public, but it will be broadcast on Twitter @ukfootball and on the official Kentucky Football Facebook page at 3:00 pm.
Schlarman had been battling cancer since the summer of 2018. He continued to coach through treatments and was given the game ball by head coach Mark Stoops after Kentucky defeated Tennessee on October 17th. It was the last time Coach Schlarman was with the team on the sidelines.
Along with family and invited friends, the UK football team and staff will attend today’s celebration, along with team and staff alumni.
Schlarman is survived by his wife LeeAnne and four children, Joseph, Benjamin, Matthew and Evelyn. He was 45.
