Baptist Health Lexington has announced plans to build a medical campus that will create hundreds of jobs in Kentucky’s second-largest city. Karyn Czar reports.
Officials say long-term plans call for a hospital, a surgery center, 12 other buildings containing retail and medical office space and two parking garages in Lexington. Work on the $1 billion construction project is expected to begin this year. Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton and Baptist Health Lexington President William Sisson made the announcement Thursday. The medical campus is expected to create 600 to 700 new jobs.
