UK athletic director Mitch Barnhart tweeted that "there will be consequences" for a Wildcats fan who yelled a racial slur at a Tennessee fan near the end of the Volunteers' upset victory over the Wildcats. Ethan Williams started recording video of fans leaving Rupp before the final buzzer Tuesday night and was heard laughing and asking them why they were leaving early.
He captured Ashley Lyles who stopped and twice yelled a racial slur at Williams. Lyles released an apology calling her words hurtful, hateful and unacceptable. Barnhart tweeted that the incident "has no place at the University of Kentucky." Lyles is not a season ticket holder but he assured fans that "there are still ways to ensure those actions are not repeated at future UK events." UK officials have reached out to Williams and apologized on behalf of the university.
