Feds Say Social Media Threat Not Credible; Kentucky Schools Taking Precautions

FBI agents in Little Rock were alerted to a social media threat warning of possible school shootings Wednesday in Kentucky and Thursday in Arkansas. The agency investigated and found the threat originated from someone outside of the United States and determined it wasn’t credible. No specific schools were named but districts aren't taking chances.

Fayette and Franklin County Superintendents e-mailed parents about the investigation and assured them that safety was the top priority today and every day. Fayette County Superintendent Manny Caulk said school safety officers were working closely with the Lexington FBI and Lexington Police Department. Powell County posted on facebook that the Stanton Police Department would place an officer at each school today. Other districts that have a limited number of safety officers have asked their local police departments for help with additional security.
