Former Wildcat QB Jared Lorenzen Hospitalized

AP file photo, 2003

Former Kentucky quarterback Jared Lorenzen has been hospitalized and is in ICU. Lorenzen’s family asked Kentucky Sports Radio’s Matt Jones to give an update via twitter. It reads "He is fighting with everything he has and his immediate family is by his side. We will attempt to update as often as possible, but pleas respect that some aspects of this journey are private matters."

The only other information that’s been released is that Lorenzen is battling an infection as well as kidney and heart issues. The former UK star had been on a mission to get fit after hitting 500 pounds on the scale and doctors advised that his weight was having an effect on his health. The 38-year old played at Kentucky between 2000 and 2003. He led the SEC in passing yards and still holds the Wildcats’ record for career passing yards with 10,354.
