Man Who Killed Lexington Police Officer In Hit-And-Run Released From Jail

LEX 18

Glenn Doneghy, the man convicted of running over a Lexington Police officer and killing him has been released from jail, according to the officer’s family and the Kentucky Peace Officers' Association.

Officer Bryan Durman was killed in a hit-and-run while investigating a noise complaint in April 2010. He had been with the department for two years. The driver fled the scene but was eventually arrested and convicted of second-degree manslaughter.

Doneghy was supposed to be eligible for parole in 2020. Instead, he was released from jail in 2019 after serving less than half his sentence

Durman’s widow had started a petition to keep Doneghy behind bars for the duration of his 20-year sentence. Brandy Durman Toombs says that Doneghy was released for good behavior.  The Kentucky Peace Officers' Association says family members weren't notified prior to Doneghy's release.
