US Equestrian Federation Breaks Ground On New HQ At KHP

The United States Equestrian Federation broke ground at the Kentucky Horse Park Friday for a brand new headquarters.  WUKY's Samantha Lederman was on hand and filed this report.

The USEF serves as the national governing body of equestrian sports in the USA, and represents a collected 29 breeds and disciplines.  As such, USEF is recognized by the US Olympic Committee and the Olympic Rings will be front and center on all new signage and in the lobby of the new building.

The two story, 35,ooo square foot building, designed by Integrity Architecture and constructed by D.W. Wilburn will sit on a three acre plot of land leased from the Kentucky Horse Park Commission.

The new headquarters will replace the office space USEF currently leases at KHP and which expires at the end of 2019.  It will be one of the first buildings visitors see on arrival at the Horse Park, and the exterior has been designed to resemble a stable.

The USEF has over 100,000 members and its motto is to Discover the Joy of Horse Sports.

Listeners might remember Lederman and her English accent from when she was a morning news anchor on WUKY from 1999 to 2001.
