Poet, Author, Educator bell hooks Headlines 2018 HOF Class

The Kentucky Writers Hall Of Fame at the Carnegie Center For Literacy And Learning welcomes four new members Wednesday night. The hall was created to celebrate Kentucky’s rich literary heritage and to recognize outstanding writers whose work reflects the character and culture of the Commonwealth.

Berea author, feminist, and social activist bell hooks, the only living author to be inducted this year, will be at the event to receive the award and share words.

"bell hooks is one of the most influential cultural critics of our time," said Neil Chethik, Executive Director of the Carnegie Center. "She has built a worldwide readership over 40 years with unique insights on such topics as love, race, and power. We are thrilled to invite her to join the Kentucky Writers Hall of Fame."

Between 2012 and 2017, 29 writers were inducted into the Hall of Fame. For a full list of the inductees including their biographies visit Carnegie's website.

Doors open Wednesday night at 6:30.  Seating is very limited.  The induction ceremoney gets under way at 7 p.m.
