Lexington Thriller parade instructor and co-founder Melissa McCartt-Smyth takes participants through the choreography on October 4, 2017.

For a tradition that’s all about bringing out the undead, Lexington’s annual Thriller parade has taken on a life of its own since its inception in 2002. This year, WUKY’s Josh James decided to experience the Michael Jackson-inspired phenomenon from the inside.

Lexington's Halloween/Thriller Parade starts at 8 p.m. Sunday, October 29. (Rain date: Monday, October 30). More info.

Josh James fell in love with college radio at Western Kentucky University's student station, New Rock 92 (now Revolution 91.7). After working as a DJ and program director, he knew he wanted to come home to Lexington and try his hand in public radio.
