Police Investigating Two Homicides Over Holiday Weekend

The Fayette County Coroner says two victims have died in two separate shootings in Lexington over the long holiday weekend.

The first shooting happened around 11:30p.m. Saturday night in the 400 block of East Sixth Street near Chestnut Street.

Police say a man was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound.

He was taken to UK Hospital with serious injuries, and later died. He has been identified as 16-year-old Floyd Dunn III. Dunn III was a student at Martin Luther King Academy in Fayette County.

The second shooting police are investigating took place between 4 and 5 a.m. Sunday. When officers arrived at Eastridge Apartments off Alumni Drive, they found nothing and left the scene.

They then responded to a second call around 8:50 a.m. after a woman, who walking through the apartment complex, found a man in a ditch with an apparent gunshot wound.

He was taken to Saint Joseph East with life-threatening injuries, but the coroner says he has now died. He has been identified as 28-year-old Jerome Wadsworth.

There are currently no suspects in custody in either shooting.
