Federal Jury Indicts Two Carfentanil Dealers

Associated Press

Two men are looking at some serious jail time after a federal grand jury indicted them for distributing carfentanil, a synthetic opioid 10,000 times more potent than morphine, which resulted in seven overdoses last month in Rowan County.

US Attorney Kerry Harvey says 28 year old Travis Clark of Cincinnati and 27 year old Matthew Bowman of Morehead were indicted on one count each of conspiring to distribute carfentanil and distribution of carfentanil.

Harvey says the indictment sends a powerful message to substance abusers and their suppliers.

Clark and Bowman face 20 years to life in federal prison for the distribution charge, and 5 to 40 years for the conspiracy charge.
