The University of Kentucky’s Violence Intervention and Prevention Center held an informal gathering today where people were encouraged to speak out about instances of racism they’ve either witnessed or experienced on campus.
After hearing from UK President Eli Capilouto and other school officials some attendees took the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings.
A representative from UK’s Counseling Center was also on hand to talk about the range of services available to those in the campus community who have experienced racial trauma. The VIP Center says they plan to hold more events like these in the future.
