Things got lively at the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees meeting Friday in Bowling Green. The Lexington Herald Leader reports that three on the panel spoke out about the university’s lawsuit against the Kentucky Kernel, the school’s independent newspaper.
UK is suing the paper as part of an appeal against an attorney general's opinion that found that the school had violated the Kentucky Open Records Act by withholding documents regarding a professor's sexual harassment and assault case from the Kernel.
Following the meeting we reached UK spokesman Jay Blanton.
The Board took no action on the matter. In a far less controversial move Trustees cast a historic vote that will directly affect the future of 91.3 WUKY.
