Barr Says He Supports 'Republican Nominee' Doesn't Mention Trump By Name

Associated Press

While he wouldn’t come out and say Donald Trump’s name, a leading Kentucky Republican did back his party’s Presidential nominee on Thursday.

Congressman Andy Barr was at Camp Nelson to announce proposed legislation to add the historical site into the National Park system.  After laying out the plan to the media, the questions turned to the upcoming elections.  When asked about Donald Trump, Barr talked about Democratic nominee Hilary Clinton’s e-mail controversy and said that he wanted someone in office who would fix the “broken regulatory system, replace the Affordable Care Act and fix financial regulations.”  When Barr said we needed a President who will “enact an agenda to save the country” Barr was then asked what he felt made Donald Trump the man to do that.

"There's only one other candidate who says that he will actually work with us on that agenda.  That doesn't mean I agree with everything our nominee says or the way he says it, but I owe it to my constituents to support an agenda that I think will best advance the interests of our national security and our economy, and that's why I can't in good conscience support the candidacy of Mrs. Clinton," Barr told WUKY's Karyn Czar.

As far as his own campaign for the U.S. House sixth district seat against Democrat Nancy Jo Kemper, the incumbent has agreed to one debate which will air on KET and said there may or may not be more depending on his schedule.
