University of Kentucky faculty are happy with President Eli Capilouto’s progress in updating campus infrastructure, but they remain less impressed with his responsiveness to employee concerns. That’s according to an annual survey reviewed by the UK Board of Trustees executive committee Thursday.
The survey results – which are unrelated to a broader review that resulted in a three-year contract extension and a more than $250k bump in base salary last month – show faculty are generally pleased with the president’s support for undergraduate education, new facilities popping up on campus, and administration efforts to increase diversity.
Continuing trends from previous years, respondents were more divided on how well Capilouto has bolstered morale and involved faculty in decision-making.
UK spokesman Jay Blanton notes that the annual review process isn’t complete just yet.
"Now the full board will get questions that they'll turn back in, relative to Dr. Capilouto's evaluation, and then in September when the full board has its next meeting they'll review all of that accept the evaluation," he says.
Capilouto’s new contract runs through June 2021.
