143 Employees At Lexmark Getting Pink Slipped

Lexmark

143 Lexmark employees have received word that they will be laid off.  The Office for Employment and Training, a partner in the Kentucky Career Center, has received a WARN Act Notice for the layoff at Lexmark International Inc. 143 positions are being affected and the layoffs are expected to be permanent.  Lexmark is not, however, closing their Lexington, Ky. facility.

Mayor Jim Gray tweeted a statement on the layoffs. It reads, "We reached out this morning to Lexmark leadership offering to work with those employees affected by today’s announced layoffs."

The company announced last month that it was cutting approximately 550 jobs or about 4 percent of its workforce…the cuts would be part of its worldwide workforce.  There are about 2,300 people at the Lexington facility.
