New Kentucky Horse Park Chair Selected

Gov. Matt Bevin's administration says the Kentucky Horse Park's governing body has a new chairwoman.

Secretary of Tourism, Arts and Heritage Don Parkinson said Friday that Louisville attorney Tandy Patrick will serve as chairwoman of the horse park commission.

Patrick replaces Alston Kerr, who served as head of the park's commission since 2008.

The horse park is a popular tourist attraction in Kentucky's bluegrass region.

Patrick fills a vacant seat on the commission. Her term expires in early 2020. Parkinson announced two other additions to the park's commission — Rebecca Jordan of Georgetown and Matt Dedden of Burlington.

Kentucky lawmakers are considering legislation to revamp the horse park's commission and trim its membership from 17 to nine. The bill has sparked debate about the park's management under its executive director, Jamie Link.
