Governor Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff this Wednesday in honor of 33-year old Richmond police officer Daniel Ellis who was killed in the line of duty.Officer Ellis died last Friday, less than two days after being shot while searching an apartment for a robbery suspect. He was a seven-year veteran of the force and leaves behind his wife Katie and the couple’s four year old son Luke.
Visitation for Officer Ellis will be held from 2-8 p.m. tomorrow at the Eastern Kentucky University Alumni Coliseum, on the Eastern Bypass in Richmond. Funeral services are at 11:00 Wednesday morning at the same location.
Governor Beshear is asking individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
