Ground Broken For New Multi-Million Dollar Research Facility At UK

Construction is set to begin on a new research facility on the University of Kentucky’s campus.

The University of Kentucky has been on roll when it comes to construction and financial gifts.  Friday, one day after announcing their largest single donation in history, UK and government officials ceremoniously tossed dirt with golden shovels in a parking lot off Limestone where a $265 million dollar building will stand with the purpose of addressing health challenges and disparities in the state.

Dr. Lisa Cassis, Vice President for Research at UK called the planned facility a game-changer. “We acknowledge that there’s just too much death here and that we can do something about it so this building gives us the capabilities of recruiting and retaining real world class, very well funded investigators in this area.  Plus this building gives us the opportunity to bring people together across a range of disciplines to try and approach the problem.”

The facility is slated to be completed in the spring of 2018 and is being funded by the state and university resources which include private gifts.
