The general manager of a Roanoke TV station where two people were killed on air was recently inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame.
Jeff Marks was a former student reporter at WBKY, (now WUKY,) at the University of Kentucky, and later served as a producer and reporter at WHAS radio and TV in Louisville. While there he covered the worst mine disaster in U.S. history, Kentucky's Scotia mine in Letcher County.
Marks was inducted into the University of Kentucky's hall of fame in Lexington on April 5 of this year.
Marks showed professionalism and composure Wednesday as he confirmed that two of his employees, reporter Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward , were killed during an on air broadcast.
The suspect in the shooting is alleged to be a former disgruntled employee of the station.
