The Kentucky State fair is officially open!
This year fair organizers hope new events and entertainment along with discount days will help pull in more fair goers, attendance numbers were down last year. Dave Maples with the Kentucky Cattleman’s Association was on-the-air with WLKY-TV in Louisville just before the gates opened this morning. He said the food alone is worth the ticket price. “This is the Kentucky Agriculture tent, so you’ve got all of the different commodity groups here. I work with the Cattlemans Association so I’m very partial to a good rib-eye sandwich. Fish sandwich, they’ve got country ham up there, the pork producers have those big ol’ pork chops.”
Tickets prices are $12 for adults and $6 for kids and seniors. Parking is $7 and gates open at 7:00 am. The Kentucky State Fair runs from today through August 30th.
