Visitors To Kentucky's National Parks Can Earn Patch

National Park Service

Visitors to all five national parks in Kentucky can earn a special free commemorative patch in recognition of the National Park Service 2016 centennial.

The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park says participants have to visit all five parks by April 2017 and participate in at least one activity at each park.

In addition to the Lincoln Birthplace, the parks are Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area in McCreary County, Cumberland Gap National Historical Park in Bell and Harlan counties, the Fort Heiman unit of Fort Donelson National Battlefield in Calloway County and Mammoth Cave National Park in Edmonson, Hart and Barren counties.

Possible activities include hiking, biking, horseback riding, canoeing, camping, volunteering, visiting a park's museum and other activities available at the parks.
