Lexington Mayor Jim Gray, Council member Bill Farmer and other dignitaries were on hand today to re-dedicate a one acre plot of land that once was part of Ashland the Henry Clay Estate.
Clay’s Spring Park sits behind Shriners Hospital on Richmond Road. Farmer says the effort was about ten years in the making and represented a true public-private partnership.
Members of the Shriners Neighborhood Association have provided landscaping and other improvements to the site.
Eric Brooks, curator and site manager at Ashland, suggested the name, which was approved by the neighborhood association board and the city.
A stone marker will mark the site of the spring.
