It’s been more than a year in the making, the new district zones have been drawn up and approved by the Fayette County School Board.
A committee was charged with the task in advance of the newest schools that are set to open in the next two years. Two elementary schools will open in 2016 and a sixth public high school is set to open on Winchester Road in 2017. More than 1600 students will be moving to new schools and 5100 will be in a new district. The changes will go into effect at the start of the 2016 school year.
