A former Buffalo Trace Distillery guard has pleaded guilty to aiding a Kentucky bourbon theft ring that investigators say sold thousands of dollars of bourbon illegally.
Multiple media outlets report that 35-year-old Leslie M. Wright of Frankfort admitted in Franklin Circuit Court on Friday to receiving $800 for allowing stainless steel barrels to be stolen. She pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of facilitation to receive stolen property worth more than $10,000.
Prosecutor Zachary Becker says Wright has agreed to testify against others in the case. She could avoid jail time.
Wright is one of 10 people charged in what Becker says was a criminal operation that improperly obtained and sold bourbon and steroids. The main indictment issued in April charged nine people with engaging in organized crime.
